Healthshare was contracted in 2019 to provide clinical advisory, integrated commissioning, and operational management services to the New Era Day Clinic. The operational and design planning process commenced in early 2019 and construction began in September of the same year. The facility will open its doors to the public in February 2021, a little later than initially planned due to the effects of the COVID 19 Pandemic.

The Day Clinic includes modern and well-appointed consulting rooms, which will permanently accommodate a group of Ophthalmic surgeons, with a group of Orthopaedic Surgeons occupying sessional suites.

The hospital nursing staff are handpicked and work under the lead of an experienced theatre matron, ensuring the quality of care and excellent service.

The project takes place over two phases:
a) pre-commissioning phase using Healthshare’s integrated healthcare facility planning and commissioning service
b) operational phase using Healthshare’s operational Management of Healthcare Facilities service.

Pre-OPERATIONAL AND COMMISSIONING Phase:  May 2019
Objective:Project management and clinical lead on the 100 bed expansion and upgrade of Jwaneng hospital.
Function:

Comprehensive project management of all pre-operational activities with timelines and milestones

  • Continual updating of business plan and financial model as necessary
  • Review and clinical input on architectural plans, and site visits
  • All areas HR planning, implementation and staff management systems
  • Appointment of hospital management team
  • Capital budgeting and financials
  • Development of a full set of policies and standard operating procedures
  • Ensure that hospital and theatre equipment is in place, functional and operational, and that staff are adequately trained
  • Management of all outsourced services
  • Implementation of all finance & administration policies and procedures
  • IT system implementation and training
  • Ensuring that the pharmacy is operational as well as ensuring a continuous supply of drugs, surgical, injectables, disposables and other requirements. Procurement and supply chain management
