Hello spring, hello new beginnings! Spring doesn’t only bring longer and warmer days but symbolises change. Springtime is the opportunity for you to freshen up your lifestyle and kickstart the journey to a newer, healthier, more active you! Let us share some top tips on how you can stay healthy this spring.

Get outside: The weather will never be as nice as it is in spring so take advantage and get some exercise outside of the house! Play a game of soccer with friends or family, go for a jog or take the dog for a walk. These are all fabulous ways to get some exercise and fresh air.

Vegify your diet: Add some colour to your dishes with seasonal vegetables and fruit. Orange, red, green and heck, add a dash of purple! Spring isn’t a time for boring food. Make a fresh salad or try something you’ve never tried before.

Drink more water: As temparatures start to rise, the risk for dehydration increases. Carry a bottle of ice water where ever you go. You can always add a slice of lemon, cucumber or straberries to add some zing to your water!

Visit your doctor: Now that you’ve left the winter sniffles and flu behind, it’s not a bad idea to visit your local health practitioner for a full check-up and some tips on lifestyle changes you can make in spring. If you suffer form sinus or allergies that tend to be aggravated in spring, your health practitioner will be able to provide advice.

Protect your skin against the sun: Sunscreen, sun hat and more sunscreen! We cannot stress this enough. Invest in a bottle of sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher that protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Throw in your favourite sun hat and a pair of sunglasses and you will enter the new season in style!

Change it up: It’s a new season and time for change! See where you can make changes in your daily routine, the dishes you prepare and your exercise routines. Eat breakfast outside one morning, roll around in the grass, just have fun with it. Be bold, be creative.

Enjoy the water: What is the one activity that comes to mind in spring and summer? If you’re thinking what we are then it’s swimming, of course. Take advantage of the beautiful weather and partake in some water aerobic activities or just complete a few laps around the pool. Most gyms have a swimming pool if you can’t access one at home.

Set a new goal: Spring is the perfect time to get your summer body ready. Set up a list of your ideal health and fitness goals and get to work. Don’t give up. It’s as simple as that.
