The objectives of Occupational Health include
the following:
- Eliminate, control and minimise health
risks and hazards
- Eliminate, control and treat occupational
diseases at an early stage
- Establish a baseline against which subsequent
changes in health status of employees can be evaluated
over time
- Identify medical conditions that my render
employees temporarily or permanently unable to perform
their occupations and to ensure appropriate treatment of
medical conditions identified
- Educate employees and employers in the
early detection and prevention of occupational disease
and the risks associated with his / her occupation
- Establish a baseline against which subsequent
changes in health status can be evaluated through ongoing
medical surveillance programs
- Assist employers to meet legislative requirements
pertaining to occupational health surveillance and reports
