The objectives of Occupational Health include the following:

  • Eliminate, control and minimise health risks and hazards
  • Eliminate, control and treat occupational diseases at an early stage
  • Establish a baseline against which subsequent changes in health status of employees can be evaluated over time
  • Identify medical conditions that my render employees temporarily or permanently unable to perform their occupations and to ensure appropriate treatment of medical conditions identified
  • Educate employees and employers in the early detection and prevention of occupational disease and the risks associated with his / her occupation
  • Establish a baseline against which subsequent changes in health status can be evaluated through ongoing medical surveillance programs
  • Assist employers to meet legislative requirements pertaining to occupational health surveillance and reports
