Healthy Living/Wellness Programmes

A lot of emphasis is placed on healthy living and leading a healthy lifestyle. Taking care of your body has become important over the last few years and this specific industry has evolved significantly over the last few years, with many options becoming available for different people. Let’s take a look at what’s out there for you.

1.       Fitness / weight loss

Research has shown that people who maintain a healthy weight and improve their strength and muscular endurance reduce their risk for diabetes, back pain, stroke, heart attack and other problems that affect their performance at work. Many gyms offer hour long sessions that focus on weight-loss and fitness. Other institutions offer “biggest loser” competitions that require weekly weigh-ins and a rigorous exercising regime as well as a strict diet.

2.      Nutrition

This aspect of healthy living is mostly included in the above section too. Following a specific type of diet can help you achieve your individual targets – whether it’s losing or gaining weight. While your personal trainer will have great and often accurate advice regarding the food you should eat, it’s always a good idea to consult with a registered dietician.

3.      Pregnancy and maternity

Lots of women join Pilates or pre-natal classes before they give birth. It is important for a mother to maintain good health during pregnancy and to keep a watchful eye on her diet to avoid having to lose those extra pounds that just can’t be avoided during pregnancy. Pre-natal classes also help to prepare women for child-birth and aims to make the process as simple as possible.
